Events

KLI Colloquia are informal, public talks that are followed by extensive dissussions. Speakers are KLI fellows or visiting researchers who are interested in presenting their work to an interdisciplinary audience and discussing it in a wider research context. We offer three types of talks:

1. Current Research Talks. KLI fellows or visiting researchers present and discuss their most recent research with the KLI fellows and the Vienna scientific community.

2. Future Research Talks. Visiting researchers present and discuss future projects and ideas togehter with the KLI fellows and the Vienna scientific community.

3. Professional Developmental Talks. Experts about research grants and applications at the Austrian and European levels present career opportunities and strategies to late-PhD and post-doctoral researchers.

  • The presentation language is English.
  • If you are interested in presenting your current or future work at the KLI, please contact the Scientific Director or the Executive Manager.

The group started with a focus on feminist Science-Technology-Society (STS) methodology, and since 2022, has been successfully organising its meetings twice a year, each meeting themed on a paper chosen for discussion. This year, we decided to not set a new topic. We aim to discuss issues of science, technology, and medicine studies with a particular focus on the epistemic, social, and ethical implications of scientific knowledge production. We commit to providing sufficient space for the perspectives of marginalized knowers when it comes to selecting topics, readings, as well as analytical frameworks.

The paper for the next meeting is:

Kelly, M. P., Kelly, R. S., & Russo, F. (2014). The integration of social, behavioral, and biological mechanisms in models of pathogenesis. Perspectives in biology and medicine, 57(3), 308–328. https://doi.org/10.1353/pbm.2014.0026
