Outreach: Les baleines ont-elles le mal de mer? [transl. as: Do whales get seasick?]

KLI senior postdoc fellow Anne Le Maître gave a science outreach presentation on 23 March 2026 at the Republikanischer Klub in Vienna, at the invitation of Français du Monde – ADFE Autriche, a non-profit organization representing French people living in Austria. In her presentation, Anne explained the functions and evolution of the ear in vertebrates through the lens of several questions: Why can we always tell where the ground is, even in total darkness? Why do we lose our balance when we drink too much alcohol? Do whales get seasick? Are birds better musicians than humans? Did dinosaurs have ears? How do frogs hear?
